Sustaining Communities Through Rabbitry: A Continuous Path to Food Security and Livelihood

Rabbitry is proving to be an ideal livestock option for urban communities—quiet, with no strong odor, and easy to raise even in small spaces. Rabbits provide lean meat for families while their manure and urine can be used as natural fertilizer for home gardens. Even better, their feed requirements are simple, as grasses and plants can be grown by the families themselves.

In a recent seminar attended by parents under the scholarship program, participants learned practical skills in rabbit raising as part of their preparation for resettlement in new housing communities. The training highlighted rabbitry not only as a source of food but also as a sustainable livelihood that families can manage at home.

This seminar is part of a continuing effort to support food security and sustainable living—helping communities build resilience through simple, practical, and environment-friendly practices.
